David K. Hayes was born and raised in Hawaii and has lived in the islands his entire life. He graduated in the class of 1978 from Saint Louis High School in Honolulu and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Hawaii in 1985. Dave has been a member of several artist guilds and conservation organizations throughout the years and has been awarded in several juried showings. Over the past three decades he has pursued his interest in cross country backpacking and has explored the more remote regions within the State. Through his experience and research he has become throughly familiar with the native and introduced biota of the Hawaiian archipelago.
